Dr. Meredith Powers Has Been Selected as the Inaugural Recipient of the 2021 Environmental Justice Champion Award

In honor of her “diverse, meaningful, and inspiring endeavors”, Dr. Meredith C. F. Powers has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the 2021 Environmental Justice Champion Award from Adelphi University School of Social Work and the Institute for Social Work and Environmental Justice.

They noted her “support of others and her active engagement at all levels of practice to address environmental justice in the social work profession”.

Additionally, Dr. Powers has demonstrated “substantial efforts in supporting an inclusive and impactful community of social work practitioners, educators, and students interested in environmental justice through the Listserv[Green/Ecosocial Work Collaborative Network she founded and administers], impressive collection of research articles and practice workbooks, and the innovative Climate Justice Program through the IFSW.”

The award will be presented at the 2021 Virtual Environmental Justice Conference on April 28th, and a grant of $250 will be made to the IFSW Climate Justice Program in honor of Dr. Powers.
